Wat Chalong & Big Buddha
Must SeeVisit Phuket's most important temple and the 45-meter marble Big Buddha with 360-degree views from Nakkerd Hills. Two essential landmarks that capture the island's spiritual side.

Karon Viewpoint Sunset
SunsetDrive to the Three Beaches Viewpoint for a panoramic sunset over Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon beaches. One of Phuket's most stunning views. Then head to dinner at your preferred area.
Phi Phi Islands Day Trip
A full-day speedboat adventure to the Phi Phi Islands — the undisputed highlight of any Phuket trip.
Speedboat Departure
AdventureDepart from Rassada Pier on a premium speedboat tour (2,500-3,500 THB). Smaller group tours offer a better experience at Maya Bay and the snorkeling spots.
Maya Bay & Pileh Lagoon
Must SeeThe iconic Maya Bay and the breathtaking Pileh Lagoon. Swimming in the turquoise waters of Pileh, enclosed by towering limestone cliffs, is a bucket-list experience.
Phi Phi Don & Lunch
IslandLunch on the main island with time to explore. Walk the narrow isthmus between the two bays and browse the small shops.
Snorkeling & Return
AdventureAfternoon snorkeling at Bamboo Island before the return journey. Arrive back at Phuket around 5 PM. Rest up — tomorrow you fly to Koh Samui.
Fly to Koh Samui — Chaweng & Big Buddha
A short flight takes you from the Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Samui greets you with coconut palms, a different Big Buddha, and a completely different vibe.
Flight to Koh Samui
TransportFly Phuket to Koh Samui with Bangkok Airways (1 hour direct, 2,500-5,000 THB) or take a cheaper connecting flight via Bangkok with AirAsia (total 4-5 hours, 1,500-3,000 THB). The direct Bangkok Airways flight is worth the premium.
Chaweng Beach
BeachCheck in and head to Chaweng, Koh Samui's most popular beach. Seven kilometers of white sand with turquoise Gulf of Thailand water. The vibe is more relaxed and resort-oriented than Phuket's Patong. Enjoy a beachfront lunch.
Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai)
Must SeeVisit Koh Samui's own Big Buddha — a 12-meter golden seated Buddha on a small island connected by a causeway. The temple area has a lively market with food stalls and souvenir shops. Different from Phuket's marble version but equally impressive.
Fisherman's Village, Bophut
CultureExplore the charming Fisherman's Village in Bophut — a quaint strip of converted Chinese shophouses with boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants along the waterfront. On Fridays, the walking street night market is excellent.
Chaweng Night Scene
NightlifeDinner at one of Chaweng's excellent restaurants. Try Prego for Italian with sea views, The Page for upscale Thai, or the Green Bird for authentic local food. Chaweng has a lively but more upscale nightlife scene compared to Patong.

Ang Thong Departure

Koh Mae Koh — Emerald Lake
Must SeeClimb to the viewpoint overlooking the Emerald Lake (Thale Nai), an inland saltwater lake with stunning green water surrounded by limestone cliffs. The 500-meter hike is steep but the view is one of the most photographed in Thailand.
Kayaking Through the Islands

Beach Lunch & Snorkeling
AdventureLunch on one of the uninhabited islands (usually included in the tour), followed by snorkeling in the protected marine park waters. The coral and fish life here is excellent due to the park's protected status.
Koh Wua Talab Viewpoint
Must SeeHike to the viewpoint on the park's main island for a sweeping panorama of the entire 42-island archipelago. The view stretches endlessly across the Gulf of Thailand. Keep an eye out for the dusky langurs that inhabit the island.
Return to Koh Samui
RelaxArrive back on Koh Samui in the late afternoon. A relaxed evening dinner is well-deserved after a full day on the water. Try Laem Din Night Market for affordable local food.
Waterfalls, Temples & Southern Beaches
Explore Koh Samui's interior and south coast with jungle waterfalls, ornate temples, and the island's most beautiful quieter beaches.
Na Muang Waterfall
NatureVisit Na Muang Waterfall 1, the most accessible waterfall on the island with a natural swimming pool at the base. The 20-meter cascade is surrounded by lush jungle. Na Muang 2 is a more challenging 30-minute hike for the adventurous.
Wat Plai Laem
CultureA stunning modern Buddhist temple built over a lake, featuring a giant 18-armed statue of Guanyin and a large laughing Buddha. The colorful architecture and lake setting make it one of Samui's most photogenic temples. Free entry.
Secret Buddha Garden
CultureA hidden hilltop garden deep in the island's jungle, filled with stone statues of deities, animals, and mythical figures. Reached via a steep 4WD track (tours available for 500-800 THB), the garden offers jungle views and a surreal atmosphere.
Lamai Beach
BeachHead to Lamai, Koh Samui's second-largest beach and a more relaxed alternative to Chaweng. The southern end is particularly beautiful with rocky headlands and swimmable coves. Visit the famous Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks (Hin Ta Hin Yai).
Lad Koh Viewpoint
ViewpointVisit this scenic viewpoint on the south coast for sweeping views over Lamai Bay and the surrounding coastline. The rock platforms are perfect for photos. A quieter alternative to the more touristy viewpoints.
Farewell Sunset Dinner
SunsetEnd your two-island Thai adventure with a sunset dinner. The Dining Room at Tongsai Bay offers some of the best dining on the island, or try Coco Tam's for beach cushion dining under the stars.
Extend to 6-7 Days
With extra days on Koh Samui, add island-hopping adventures to neighboring Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.
Day 6: Koh Phangan Day Trip
Take the 30-minute ferry to Koh Phangan (200-400 THB). Visit Haad Rin beach (famous for Full Moon Parties), snorkel at Bottle Beach, or explore the Than Sadet National Park waterfalls. Return to Samui in the evening.
Day 7: Koh Tao Diving
The serious diving option. Ferry to Koh Tao (1.5-2 hours) for some of the best and most affordable diving in the world. Two fun dives cost around 2,500-3,500 THB. Even a day snorkeling trip to Koh Tao is spectacular.
Booking Tips
Book Early
Bangkok Airways has a monopoly on the Phuket-Samui direct route. Book 4-6 weeks ahead for the best fares. The connecting route via Bangkok with AirAsia is cheaper but adds 3-4 hours.
Split Budget
Save money on Phuket accommodation (more budget options available) and splurge on Koh Samui where the resort experience is a highlight. Many Samui resorts include breakfast.
Best Months
December to March is ideal for both islands. Phuket is best November to April. Koh Samui gets heavy rain in October and November. July to September is a good budget-friendly window.
